The Panel That
Sets the Standard.

Every panel we install or upgrade gets the same treatment — clean wiring, every circuit tested and individually labeled. No mystery breakers. No shortcuts. This is the standard we hold ourselves to on every job, and the reason most of our work comes by referral.

Every Circuit Labeled Before We Leave

We identify, test and clearly label every breaker. Your home inspector, your electrician twenty years from now, and you — everyone will know exactly what controls what.

Permitted & Inspection-Ready

We pull the permit, coordinate the utility meter pull and pass inspection. All documentation delivered to you. Nothing skipped, nothing hidden.

Future-Ready Capacity

Upgrading to 200A or 400A gives your home the capacity it needs for EV chargers, generators, modern appliances and additions — without tripping breakers or overloading circuits.

Federal Pacific & Zinsco Replacement

Older homes in Massachusetts frequently have recalled panel brands that fail to trip under overload. We replace them completely and safely — with documentation for your insurance company.

Which Upgrade
Do You Need?

Two most common upgrade paths — both delivered with the same standard of quality and documentation.

100A to 200A upgrade
Most Common
100A → 200A Service Upgrade

The standard upgrade for homes built before 1990. A 100A panel is undersized for modern electrical loads — two EV chargers, a heat pump and modern appliances will overwhelm it. 200A gives you the headroom to run your home safely and efficiently.

200A to 400A upgrade
High Demand · 2026
200A → 400A Service Upgrade

The upgrade for homes going fully electric or adding significant loads — two EV chargers, a whole-home generator, a heat pump system and large appliances all running simultaneously. 400A gives you complete headroom, now and in the future.

400A service entrance upgrade
Dual-panel or split-bus configuration as needed
Every circuit labeled across both panels
Ready for EV chargers and generator hookup
Utility-grade grounding system
Permit pulled and inspection passed

Warning Signs

Signs You Need
A Panel Upgrade.

Any of these sound familiar? Don't wait — panel issues get worse over time and can become safety hazards.

Breakers Tripping Frequently

Your panel is drawing more current than it can safely handle. Repeated tripping is a warning your system is undersized for your actual load.

Flickering or Dimming Lights

Lights flickering when appliances turn on indicates voltage fluctuations — often a sign the panel can't handle simultaneous loads.

Planning to Add an EV Charger

A Level 2 EV charger needs a dedicated 240V circuit and sometimes a panel upgrade. We assess your panel before any EV installation.

Federal Pacific or Zinsco Panel

These panels are known to fail to trip under overload conditions — a fire risk. Many insurers won't cover homes with them. They need to be replaced.

Home Built Before 1990

Older Massachusetts homes frequently have 60A or 100A panels that were never designed for today's electrical loads. A free estimate will tell you exactly where you stand.

Insurance Requiring an Upgrade

Some insurance providers in Massachusetts require panel upgrades as a condition of coverage. We provide all necessary documentation for your insurer.

Common Questions

Panel Upgrade
FAQ.

How long does a panel upgrade take?
Most panel upgrades are completed in one day. Power is typically off for 4 to 8 hours during the work. We coordinate with the utility for the meter pull and work efficiently to minimize downtime. For 400A upgrades, some jobs take two days depending on the home's service entrance configuration.
Will my power be out all day?
Power is off for the duration of the panel replacement — typically 4 to 8 hours. We schedule this so you know exactly when power goes off and when it's restored. We work as efficiently as possible to shorten that window.
Do I need a permit for a panel upgrade in Massachusetts?
Yes. Massachusetts requires an electrical permit for any panel replacement or service upgrade. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection — you don't have to do anything. Unpermitted panel work creates real problems when you sell your home or file an insurance claim. Don't skip it.
How do I know if I need 200A or 400A?
200A is sufficient for most single-family homes — it handles EV chargers, appliances, HVAC and modern loads without issue. 400A is the right choice when you're running multiple EV chargers, a whole-home generator, a heat pump system and heavy appliances simultaneously. We do a load calculation during the free estimate and give you a clear recommendation based on your actual situation.
Why are the circuits in your panels labeled so clearly?
Because a panel is only as good as its documentation. We test every circuit individually and label it clearly so you always know what controls what. It's a standard we hold ourselves to on every job — and one of the things our clients and their home inspectors consistently notice and mention.
Can I combine a panel upgrade with an EV charger install?
Absolutely — and it's often the most cost-efficient way to do both. If your panel needs upgrading and you're adding an EV charger, we can do both in the same job, pulling one permit and coordinating one utility outage. Many clients combine these upgrades to take advantage of the Section 30C federal tax credit before it expires June 30, 2026.
My insurance company is asking for a panel upgrade. Can you help?
Yes. We work with homeowners facing insurance-required panel replacements regularly — especially homes with Federal Pacific Stab-Lok or Zinsco panels. We complete the work and provide all documentation your insurance company needs, including the permit, inspection certificate and itemized work summary.
